Cosmos a series by Carl Sagan
So I just completed the Cosmos series by Carl Sagan for the first time today and I’m drowning here with hope and deep sorrow simultaneously. It is 31 years old but yet its message is still as enduring as it was back then. I can not eloquent describe how I feel about the show. My mind wanders, and I feel that we as a species share a common hope for a grand future, but our disposition...

Dennis Ritchie, the creator of everything Apple products are based on (C and UNIX) died without much fanfare last week. If Steve was the king of the front end and visible, Dennis was the king of the invisible underpinnings. He was best known as the creator of the C programming language and a key developer of the UNIX operating system, and as co-author of the definitive book on C, The C...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
I have been playing with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 since yesterday when it shipped and so far it’s been marvels. Using it for over a day now has satisfied me that I made the right choice buying it instead of a different Android tablet or the iPad 2 altogether. And by the looks of the market place there are plenty of App’s for Honeycomb out there. Plus it can also run App’s...

It’s nice that #lastfm library services is back online. I was a bit worried after my entire library disappeared yesterday but they managed to get everything working again. Plus it’s a good thing that I backed up my entire last.fm library just in case a month ago. As you never know when a disaster can strike.

What ever you are doing just drop it and go outside. Take your binoculars or telescopes with you and enjoy the wonderful phenomenon that is the lunar eclipse. Luckily its a clear & windy night here in Jeddah and the eclipse has reached full strength turning the moon in to a very dim red dot in the sky. Watching it happen even with a small telescope gives you a different...

ohyeahfacts: At least nine. The five we all know about: Sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch, were first proposed by Aristotle, but there are now four more which are agreed among scientists to be official senses, these are: 1. Thermoception – the sense of heat (or it’s absence) on our skin, …

del.icio.us is no longer delicious - the end
It’s not only sad that delicious is shutting down but for those of us who acutely used the services to store our bookmarks over the years have a nice problem on our hands. The first method is quite easy and more suitable...
